# Chat with other people

> Talk with other people in O.

A conversation may be about a member, Circle, Note, or another shared item. Check who is in the conversation before sending a message.

## Where to find it

Use Chat on a member, Circle, Note, or other item where that option is offered. To ask O for private assistance instead, open Home.

## What you can do

* Choose Chat on a member or item to start or reopen a conversation about it.
* Write a message to the people in that conversation.
* Use the conversation controls to review participants and available actions.

## How to use it

* Check the conversation and recipients before sending.
* Keep messages respectful and share only information intended for that audience.
* Ask O on Home when you want private help thinking something through or writing a draft.

  **Availability and privacy.** The people in a conversation can see your messages. This is different from asking O a private question on Home, so only share information intended for that audience.
